Sicario Review (2015)

Sicario is far from being just another crime film. The movie delivers thrills with devastating precision, but it’s not satisfied with just being entertaining. It’s thought-provoking and evocative to an extent I haven’t seen from a film of this nature in quite awhile. Two straight hours of dread-filled anxiety later, I can safely say Sicario is one of the year’s very best. Continue reading

Nightcrawler Review (2014)

Jake Gyllenhaal is having one hell of a year. First it was his dual role in Denis Villeneuve’s Enemy (my current front-runner for film of the year), and now he strikes gold for the second time in the remarkable Nightcrawler. It’s an edge-of-your-seat, fascinating exploration of morality in a society that rewards go-getters without questioning what they had to do to get to the top. Continue reading
